2017 Annual Report

2017 was a year of transferring our knowledge from the previous year into products and field studies, as well as increasing visibility within social enterprises. We have been working for children to advocate for their fundamental rights with your support. Thank you for being here and believing in our cause. We have learned a lot from professionals inside and outside of this sector for Onemsiyoruz’s sustainability.

We attended many training programmes such as Change with Business, Imece Incubation Process, Bizbizze Support Unit for Women, Ready for Investment Social Enterprises Capacity Development Programme. We were selected for Seed Fund Grant that is awarded by Unicredit Foundation, Vehbi Koc Foundation and Koc University Social Impact Forum. Ashoka Turkey and Mikado Sustainable Development Consulting granted mentorship for us. Late 2017, our founder Gozde was selected for the Bilgi Young Social Entrepreneur Award. Following this award, we established the official model of Onemsiyoruz as a social corporation for economic sustainability.

During the year, we collaborated with Bernard Van Leer Foundation and became a stakeholder in the Istanbul95 project. We have designed and developed creative and innovative products for the newly-born sets that the municipalities provide for families. We started manufacturing these products with Sariyer Women Entrepreneurs Cooperative and Harmoni Women’s Cooperative.

We delivered our sets of games to 15 immigrant families settled in our country with the support of Novartis. We participated in game workshops of Ilk Adim Cooperative with our products and workshops.

We suggest to develop products and services that helps kids in special conditions to perceive themselves as individuals and to ease their connection with their environment.
Our summary information on the products within this scope is included in our report. We have developed a mother-child interaction card, play mat, baby romper, sling and supplementary products. We actively worked on product development and field studies during the year.

For resource development, we collaborated with Good4Trust.org e-trade platform that supports fair-practices production and we started selling our postcards on this platform. We continued our studies with the support of tens of corporations and hundreds of individuals.
Our beneficiary target group statistics are periodically updated and there are 624 children who live with their incarcerated mothers as of January 2018. We keep one-to-one contacts to convert our products and services into a supportive model for government institutions.

Onemsiyoruz volunteers are more than 20. The team consist of various professionals mainly in child development and product design as well as marketing, communications and finance professionals. Active volunteers have increased by 150% when compared to 2016.
We welcomed in 2018 with intensive work on our strategic approach: vision, mission, go-to market plan and contact with beneficiaries. We will keep posting regularly with Onemsiyoruz updates. Thank you for being with us and for your belief in our cause.
